California pastor Mario Murillo said online censorship has become so terrible that he can no longer ignore the issue.
Since its inception nine years ago, the blog “mariomurilloministries” has been a strong advocate for the cause of Christ and a source of biblical information on contemporary events.
However, when Facebook launched its new algorithm, which included the ability to block what it considers harmful content, or content it does not agree with, the technology was used against conservative content and Christian or hosted by Christians and published works, possibly due to political motivations.
When author Murillo posted a blog entry on his Facebook page, he found that social media was preventing 90% of people who read his blog from seeing him. Only ten percent of its subscribers know that a new blog post has been posted.
Therefore, they issued a challenge to see how far Facebook’s algorithm would go to prevent people from seeing its blog. They found that when there are a large number of views and likes, the algorithm slows down.
“Yesterday the blog was shared 1,277 times, but Facebook says only 2,278 people read it,” said Murillo. “This means that for every time it has been shared, 1.78 people have read it.”
Murillo appealed to his followers to simultaneously share the blog entry on Facebook, so that the social media website’s algorithm can receive a pushback.
“Then we threw up the challenge. Today that ratio suddenly dropped from 1.78 to 5. That’s almost triple the number of readers per share.”
Following this description, Murillo goes on to explain how the attack on his blog, which is comparable to other Christian blogs or websites, started with minor issues. It escalated to the point that shadowbanning, or allowing a user to post but not show the post to others without the author’s knowledge, got worse.
Why Facebook is doing it
“They are undoubtedly emboldened by their victory in bringing us the puppet government of Biden,” Murillo said.
He suspects that Facebook viewed the blog’s content and reputation as a threat. It was approaching a total of 16 million views, including 3 million views in 2021, before Facebook started banning it.
Many Christian leaders began to read the blog regularly in order to better understand what was going on and how to fight it. Due to its effectiveness, Murillo concludes that the blog is targeted.
As long as tyranny exists, Murillo believes blogs like his will continue to play an important role in combating it. Because, if not, what do Satan and Big Tech want to crack down on in his blog?
“Because it’s a threat and she’s telling the truth about this illegitimate administration and its agenda!” Murillo declared.
A tip to bypass the algorithm
“Read it. Share it. Love it.”
Murillo thinks it’s worth a try based on their own experience when they challenged the numbers projected by Facebook’s algorithm.
“The social media giant has a big weakness – a weakness that we have to try to exploit, at least once,” he said. “The algorithm backs down when there is a sudden wave of support. If enough people read this blog, share this blog, and like it, all at the same time, FB will back down.”
Murillo, of course, is not naive to rule out other possibilities. He said if his blog has reached the end of its usefulness, it would be wise for him to divert his attention elsewhere, but first he wants to know.
“If you think this blog has run its course, then just sit there. I’ll totally understand. If there isn’t a major uptick in response after presenting it so clearly, it will show me that it doesn’t. it’s not just about Facebook, ”he said. .
“But, if you think the blog is worth saving, then I ask you this time – and this time only – to let me know that you are fighting with me against this tyranny. I need that you were talking with the others and letting them know what is at stake in there, ”he added.
Murillo, being the daring person he is, doesn’t feel like he’s on the losing side. His challenge is to urge Christians to take action to share his blogs if they think his message should be heard. It is a red flag for those who claim to follow Christ in the current political and spiritual climate.
He specifically stated that over 90% of his readers are on Facebook, the same platform that shadowbans his posts. He said in a new blog entry that his mailing list had 17,807 names, compared to 204,052 followers on Facebook. For this reason, he urges Christians to question his algorithm, so that more people can read his messages.
Mario Murillo’s blog entries are very timely, and they deliver very important messages to the Christian church in this time of widespread anti-Christian censorship, anti-church policies, anti-biblical legislation, and anti-God remarks. Readers are encouraged to visit his blog and share it with their friends.
