Thanksgiving food drives: Neighborhood Christian Center in Decatur and Feeding Families of Alabama in Hartselle are collecting food to distribute for Thanksgiving.

The NCC needs donations of canned green beans, canned corn, canned sweet potatoes, canned potatoes, jiffy cornbread mix and brownie mix. Drop off your donations at 619 Bank Street NE, Monday to Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will pack and deliver the boxes November 23-24 to Austinville United Methodist Church, 908 Lamar St. SW, Decatur.

Feeding Alabama families needs flour, sugar, cooking oil, salt, pepper, spices, gravy mixes, cake mixes, coffee, cream and tea. Drop off your donations at Mount Tabor Church, 373 Mount Tabor Road, Hartselle.

Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive: Drop off non-perishable food donations at the Stuff-A-Truck Food Drive at First National Bank at the corner of Lindsay Lane and US 72 in Athens, Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations will go to the Limestone County churches involved.

Hands through Decatur: The homeless community-driven organization needs regular volunteers on Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. to noon, to help with distribution, and Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., to serve food and clean up. . Contact 256-686-4423.

Holiday aid for teenagers and children: The Morgan County Volunteer Center needs help providing gifts to over 1,000 young people this holiday season. The needs of the Teen Christmas Assistance program include monetary donations and volunteers to shop for teens. For the Holiday Hope Chest project, the center needs people to fill shoe boxes with gifts. Call 256-355-8628.

Winter driving: The Decatur-based Quality of Life Care team collects winter items for the homeless. Items needed include tarps, baby wipes, socks, blankets, small propane tanks, deodorant, gloves, men’s boxes, and water aroma sachets. Donation bins can be found at Brick Deli on Moulton Street, Josie’s on Second Avenue and Cross-Eyed Owl on First Avenue.

Thanksgiving Meal Boxes: Those in need of food for Thanksgiving can contact the Neighborhood Christian Center at 256-351-7633. The cans include canned green beans, canned corn, canned sweet potatoes, canned potatoes, a mix of jiffy cornbread and a mix of brownies.

Turkeys and food boxes: An Athens church and outreach organization will distribute 150 free turkeys and boxes of food to people in need on Thanksgiving. Women Empowering Women in Alabama and FreshWind Christian Fellowship have teamed up for the giveaway which will take place on November 20 at 11 a.m. To receive a ticket for a box, call 256-233-5995 or stop at 17200 Lucas Ferry Road, Athens, Monday through Friday 3 – 5:00 p.m. Limit one ticket per household.
