Mona Lee Rash (2021) obituary – Indianapolis, IN

Mona L. (Beckner) Rash from Franklin, Indiana passed away on Thursday August 19, 2021 at Otterbein Senior Life.

She was born on Friday February 16, 1940 to Bert, Ky to Walton E. Beckner and Lella M. (Williams) Beckner.

She was predeceased by her parents Walton and Lella Beckner and her sister Carolyn S. (Beckner) Hamblin.

She is survived by her husband, James R. (Bob) Rash, her daughters Jenny S. Bullock (Paul) and Julia A. Hopkins (David) her brother Dr. W. Thomas Beckner (Beverly). His 11 grandchildren, Chasity Shidler (Aaron), Brandi Bullock, Anna Meyer (Brian), JD Hopkins (Kimmi), Jenna Burns (Taylor), Chad Hopkins (Lydia), Sarah Hopkins, Felicia Hopkins, Macy Thompson (Bradley) , Celia Dillard, Christian Hopkins and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mona was a born again Christian and her lifestyle showed it. She moved to Hamilton, Ohio at the age of 3 and attended N. 7th Street Church of Christ. She attended Hamilton Public Schools and graduated from Hamilton High in 1958. She then went to Milligan College where she met her husband Bob. They were married on September 2, 1960. The first of their daughters, Jenny, was born on December 7, 1961 and Julia was born on April 16, 1966.

She was a great mother to her daughters, raising them in the Church and in a relationship with Christ. She and her husband were instrumental in the early days of 3 Christian churches in Butler County, Ohio. She has taught Sunday School, VBS and has conducted several VBS. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice and was a member of several singing groups. Mona’s ministry was hospitality, she always cooked for someone or a family, and if we had a minister or a family visiting, Mona was the first to open her house to house them. Mona loved the Lord and his people.

In her later years, Mona loved to travel and worship her grandchildren and later her great grandchildren.

We are here to celebrate Mona’s life and her love for the Lord.
