MARION, Virginia

Janet Farrow Grissett, 58, entered Eternal Rest on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia.

Janet was a United Methodist elder and pastor of Grace and Greenwood United Methodist churches in Marion. In addition to her love of ministry, Janet loved animals, always sharing her home with rescued dogs. Janet also enjoyed RV trips, enjoying trips from the Canadian Yukon to sunny Florida. Janet served several Methodist churches as pastor, BMW Charge in Winchester, Virginia, Accomack Charge on the East Coast of Virginia, Melrose UMC in Lottsburg, Virginia, Fieldale UMC, Fieldale, Virginia and Grace / Greenwood UMC in Marion, Va . Janet had a special place in her heart for the UMC Church and the children of El Salvador.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Helen Farrow; and his brother, George Farrow Jr.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 38 years, Tracy Grissett; two sisters, Margaret Stackhouse (Warren) and Joyce Ewell; two brothers, Chuck Farrow (Gayle) and Al Farrow (Chris); several nieces and nephews; and her puppies.

Memorial services were held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 115 South Church St., Marion, VA 24354, with the Reverend Dr. James Bennington officiating.
