By Joan Clark

The universal healing precepts found in the Holy Bible will be explored in an upcoming lecture by Melanie Wahlberg, Christian Science healing practitioner and international speaker.

His talk, “Never Alone: How Spiritual Ideas Work Within Us,” will be given outdoors at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 28, at Ed Hales Park, 101 E. State St., Redlands. The conference is free, open to the community and is sponsored by First Church of Christ, Scientist in Redlands.

“In the midst of difficult circumstances, it would be so reassuring to feel supported in our efforts to progress, instead of feeling alone,” says Wahlberg. “In this talk, I will discuss what I have found helpful in my practice of Christian Science healing: that God loves us deeply, that he is an active presence of good in our lives, and that he provides new ideas about our spiritual nature that erase fear and reveal inspired solutions.

Wahlberg will discuss the approach to spirituality and wellness that explains these ideas, Christian Science, and share examples of healing from his own life and the lives of others. She will explain why Christian Science is both Christian and scientific, which means everyone can prove its effectiveness for themselves. The practice is described in detail in the book “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” written by the founder of the Christian Science movement, Mary Baker Eddy. Copies of this book as well as the Bible will be available at the event.

Wahlberg will also discuss the life of Mary Baker Eddy, a mid-19th century woman from New England, and how she came to understand, confirm and teach what she felt was original Christian healing. Eddy herself said she was particularly inspired by Jesus’ request: “Whoever believes in me, he will also do the works that I do; and he will do greater works than these, because I go to my Father. (John 14:12)

For over 150 years, people around the world have also worked to follow Christ Jesus in this practice of Christianity and continue to do so today, with healings of physical ailments and personal difficulties for themselves and others. others. You can hear contemporary stories of healing at the weekly Wednesday noon service, held in the Christian Science Reading Room, located across from the church at 110 W. Vine St. in Redlands.

Melanie Wahlberg has practiced Christian Science healing for many years, helping people on a daily basis through this scientific approach to prayer. She travels from her home base in Lake Forest to address the public as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Breakfast pastries and juices will be offered before the start of the conference, so come early to share the conviviality and secure parking. If street parking is full, try the parking lot at the corner of Sixth Street and Citrus Avenue.
